Baby’s 1st photo session

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the Gregory family to commemorate Baby E’s first birthday. We chose the stunning Ann and Jim Goodnight Museum Park in Raleigh, North Carolina, as our backdrop, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

Goodnight Museum Park is a 164-acre oasis that beautifully blends art, nature, and recreation. Located at the North Carolina Museum of Art, the park features a variety of trails, gardens, and art installations that provide endless opportunities for creative and picturesque photos. It’s a place where you can truly immerse yourself in the beauty of the natural world while enjoying the artistic expressions that dot the landscape. It’s kind of like the Swiss Army Knife of photoshoot locales in the Triangle. Via a short and easy hike through the park, you can go from rolling grassy hills, to piney woods, to sleek contemporary architecture, to modern and industrial sculpture installations that make for varied and exciting backdrop options.

The Gregory family was especially fun to work with because they were adventurous and willing to try different things. We captured the traditional family photos—standing together, sitting together, and playing together—but we also took some lovely couples photos. It’s so important to remember that mom and dad deserve their moment in the spotlight too, especially when the baby often takes center stage in these sorts of photoshoots.

As the golden hour led to sunset, we took some breathtaking silhouette photos that highlighted the family’s bond against the warm, glowing sky. Photographing babies can sometimes be challenging because they don’t always understand what’s happening and can’t follow direct instructions. However, when you make the experience fun, babies often do something unpredictable, and those are the moments you get the best shots. Baby E was an excellent little client and I had the best time capturing his giggly smile.

Spring is in full swing! If you’re looking to capture your family’s special moments in a beautiful and unique setting, I would love to help you create memories that will last a lifetime. Book your family photoshoot today and let’s make some magic together!
