A Phoenix in Durham
I recently had the pleasure of photographing the members of the Kelly Wealth Management Group with Raymond James at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham, North Carolina. This photoshoot included headshots, portraits, and group photos for their new website, and the setting could not have been more perfect.
The American Tobacco Campus is a historic and vibrant hub located in the heart of Durham. Originally an industrial district, it was home to the American Tobacco Company, once the largest manufacturer of cigarettes in the United States. The campus features a stunning mix of architectural styles, including Italianate, Romanesque, and Art Moderne, with buildings dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. After falling on rough times, the campus was revitalized in the early 2000s and has since become a bustling center for entertainment, dining, and cultural experiences. Today, it hosts a variety of businesses, restaurants, and event spaces, making it a true phoenix story that perfectly represents the roots and resilience of Durham and its people. In short, The American Tobacco Campus is as Bull City as it gets.
I always strive to create visual interest in my photography that complements my subjects, thinking of the image as a whole and what it is trying to convey. The American Tobacco Campus, with its beautiful and fun spaces, provided the perfect backdrop for this photoshoot. Photographing the sharp-dressed members of Kelly Wealth Management Group surrounded by the rough and industrial red-brick phoenix that is the American Tobacco Campus grounded their business in the community they serve. We got some great shots that are uniquely Durham.
I am incredibly grateful to have worked with the Kelly Wealth Management Group team. Sometimes, it takes bravery to step in front of the camera lens, and I was inspired by how whole-heartedly they supported each other throughout the shoot.
